Kell,
I hope you don't mind a bit of advice, coming from someone who has already navigated the short-term insurance maze...

First of all, I would double-check everything I say. Since we live in different states, our insurance coverage is most likely different. (ex. Cigna does not even have individual coverage in our state, wheras they might have coverage in yours. Here you can only get Cigna insurance if you work for a multi-state insurer, such as AT&T or H&R Block and they have a Cigna account.)

That being said... Aetna, United, and Blue Cross-Blue Shield (as well as Assurant) all offer short term insurance plans. All these plans are called "catastrophic coverage" plans, meaning they don't cover regular doctor's visits or pre-existing conditions, but they will pay if you become sick, need surgery, get in an accident, etc.

Most of the plans - Assurant, Aetna, and United - are pretty cut-and-dried. The monthly premium is around $70 per month, and the deductible is around $1000. However, Blue Cross-Blue Shield offers a slight variety of plans with higher premiums and lower deductibles, or higher deductibles and lower premiums. (Premiums varied from $25 to $125 each month; deductibles varied from $500 to $5000.) Plus, I was very pleased with their customer service.

Bottom line: I highly reccommend that you ask lots of questions and do lots of research. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me - tidybowl5@gmail.com.

And by the way - your daughter is adorable!
